why mpg hookup uses "a second parallel port" was created by southbayguy
Hi -
The description of how to hook up an MPG3 handheld pendant using a C22 interface card, both from CNC4PC, says:
"This example uses a MPG3 pendant and a C22 pendant interface card from [CNC4PC] and a second parallel port plugged into the PCI slot"
Is there some reason it has to be a second parallel port? I have an unused parallel port ... as far as I know it's the first parallel port. Can I use it?
... sorry about this ... it might be a dumb question.

Yes you can use any parallel port that is available.
Just need to change the address in the loadrt line for the parports.
