We are using Axis, LinuxCNC 2.4 pre. The issue is that it started moving on its own. Only when commanded the Y-axis will start moving and stays moving. We normally use the keyboard arrow keys to move the axis. When you press the arrow key + or - the Y axis starts moving and stays moving even after letting go of the arrow key. While it is moving if you press the opposite arrow key it will change directions but stays moving. If you press the arrow key multiple times it will speed up. Once it is giving a command the axis stays moving until you e-stop.

I'd start by watching axis.1.kb-jog-active if it is in 2.4. If it stays on after you release the key the problem could be the keyboard.

Edit: If you didn't upgrade the software then nothing has changed there, so look at hardware keyboard, harddrive etc.

It will also do it with the keyboard unplugged using the +/- on the display with the mouse provides the same results.

Well that does eliminate the keyboard... what do you see when you put the hal pins for the Y axis in a watch window?

axis.1.kb-jog-active toggles true/false as it should.

That does sound like the drive is not stopping when the jog command is removed. I'd put the Y axis drive pins in a watch window and see what they are doing, if they stop when you remove the finger from the key then something down stream is stuck. What kind of drive it is stepper or servo?

Turned out to be the motor encoder missing feedback.
