Mesa 5i25 or 6i25 - custom breakout board? was created by yaqwsx
Hello,
I am considering upgrade of my CNC mill with Mesa FPGA Anything I/O card. I've read quite a lot of about these cards. Mesa 5i25 and 6i25 look very interesting to me - they are cheap and seem powerfull. However in every tutorial, these card have an exception - there is always a note, that they come with pre-burned firmware for given breakout board.
Is it possible to create custom mapping of firmware for these card in order to use then with my current custom breakout board like the other Mesa cards can? Is it possible to place there x stepgens, y encoders, z pids etc? What are the limitations?

Yes, with the free Xilinx tools.
Firmware options are determined by pinout source file (pinxxxx_34.vhd)
Only limitations are FPGA space (normally not an issue) and available pins
