Hello,
I have problems with General mechatronics hal_gm driver on 2.7. They are aware of it, but they need to find the problem and fix it. In the mean time I want to test configuration on 2.6 live CD running from USB. But I can not find 2.6 iso download anymore. Anyone have some link?

Hello,
I downloaded the image. There is Linuxcnc 2.6, but on Debian Wheezy. I realized that the problem is not LinuxCNC version, but Linux version.
I try to install on Ubuntu Precise as described in linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-start...etting-linuxcnc.html. All went fine until
sudo apt-get install linuxcnc command. This is what I get:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies.
linuxcnc : Depends: libboost-python1.46.1 (>= 1.46.1-1) but it is not installable
Depends: libgnomeprint2.2-0 (>= 2.17.0) but it is not installable
.
.
more packages
.
Depends: mesa-utils but it is not installable
Depends: blt but it is not installable
Recommends: linuxcnc-doc-en but it is not going to be installed or
linuxcnc-doc
Recommends: hostmot2-firmware-all but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
Any suggestion?

you are trying to cross install between wheesy & precise, which is it ?
if you download the current latest iso which is debian wheesy for a full install , not the hybrid.iso which is older
if your installing to an existing install on precise then change the repository to the precise build in synaptic manager
you will probably find as above shows other dependencys , this is rectified by selecting the correct build as being precise
in synaptic package manager , then use sudo apt-get install <package>
change your linuxcnc repro settings to 2.6 rather than 2.7 . and use buildbot installs should fix
