e-stop config was created by lucky phil
Hi all
I am need of some help with e-stop settings for the router I am building
I have two n.c. e-stop switches wired in series to my breakout board. I am running the most current version of LinuxCNC.
I did the initial config with stepconf and had the e-stop on pin 15 (inverted) as my limit switches are also n.c. switches and they are set as inverted and work as expected, I decided on all n.c. switches so if one fails or I break a wire the machine should fault and not run.
My wiring is:
+5v to P15+ and ground through switches to P15- as per diagram although the diagram shows a n.o. switch.
When the switch is connected it operates the e-stop button in axis opposite way than expected being as it is inverted but no matter which way it is the motors won't move.
I am trying to learn Linux as well as CNC all at the same time so I'm not real clever at programming and understanding all the files yet.
Attached are relevant pictures & in & hal files.

p.s. I couldn't find the ini & hal files that stepconf generated I have run it again without the e-stop included so I can setup other stuff.

Regards & thanks in advance
Philip

Exiting e-stop and turning the machine on are two separate things.
Is it possible that the machine is just off?

F1 then F2 is the keyboard way.

give details of this breakout board you are using ?
can you link to a manual or pdf etc
does this breakout have other services onboard such as estop enable lockout or a chargepump etc

you also show the estop as disabled ( looped through)
net estop-out <= iocontrol.0.user-enable-out
net estop-out => iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in
for the estop to work change to
net estop-in => iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in
and make sure your estop input is connected to estop-in

Hi andypugh
when the switch was connected when setting up in stepconf with axis running, if the switch was toggled the e-stop button would toggle and the power button would work but nothing else (switch working opposite direction - disabled when out ).
Hi cncbasher
the e-stop is shown as disabled there as I have run stepconf again without an e-stop so I can try to setup motors and other outputs.
I'm pretty sure that I have tried the line that you have there, I will edit the file again this morning with it and see.

Can you show me which lines in my ini & hal files need to be altered for motor speed & acceleration without using stepconf.

I tried to attach the manual but it is too big so here is a link to it.

Hi all
It looks like I need to do some more reading or just clean my glasses.
This line was missing
net estop-ext <=parport.0.pin-15-in
And this line needed editing
net estop -ext =>iocontrol.0.emc-enable-in

so my estop now works as expected & my homing and limit switches are working, will try to work out motor speed & acceleration now.

Hi all
I have been copying and pasting so much I have destroyed my configs. so I have created new ones, I have created two as I can't get the estop to work when I have the charge pump enabled & I can't get any thing to work if the charge pump isn't enabled.
I have been swapping lines between the two files with no luck, can someone have a look at these to see if there is an easy that I just can' see.
The Maximus files should be the same as the NO_ESTOP files with the exception that the estop is #'ed out in one and the charge pump in the other.
