possible but probably not optimally without a lot of technical tinkering.
Linuxcnc has no (released) way to back up along the path, which I believe is fairly important to EDM.
There are probable work-arounds using offset components and there has been work on a development branch for path back-track ability.
AFAIK EDM is not a process often done with linuxcnc so there are not a lot of examples to lead you with.
In fact I can't locate an example on the wiki.
