Is my process at starting the machine and a new job correct more or less?
I guess where I'm a little confused is that when I touch off each axis I'm using the actual tool. Perhaps this is not good practice. It then makes the tool touch off possibly not necessary as the Z has already been touched off.
All of my jobs so far have been cut from sheet stock so an accurate X and Y touch off is not really needed.

It seems reasonable. It is close to how I work with my lathe, where Tool 1 always has zero offsets in the tool table, and other tools are relative to that.
