wj200_vfd, can't change baudrate?

My hardware is set up for 19200 baud. The default in wj200_vfd is 9600. tried this line:

loadusr -W wj200_vfd baud=19200

But the baud rate's still at 9600.

I didn't try to find the source code on my drive, but the wj200_vdc.comp on Github shows it should accept "baud=" options. I also tried adding gibberish options or "baud=hello" and got no error so it doesn't seem to be taking options. It is a recent LinuxCNC build and should have a recent version. That GitHub version is from 2014.

Any ideas? I do know C, but I don't know where to find the source or how to rebuild it if I make changes.
