10v pdm control was created by Wolfmansbrother
Breakout Board: Gikfun EK1206
VFD: Huangyang 2.2k
I am having trouble controlling my vfd from linux cnc, and I do not know if it is an issue with my B.O,. board or my linux cnc setup.
I know the vfd is set up correctly because if i run 5v through what should be the pdm(VI) input, the spindle runs at half rpm, i can also successfully control on and off and direction.
In the stepf i have 0hz, speed from 1 to 5000 and pwm set to 0 and 1.
the spindlepwm is set to pin1 , which i believe is supposed to control the 0-10v pwm port on my board. I don't have my multimeter atm so i can't check if the port is outputting anything, i have used halscope and know that at least something is being sent to p1 from the parport, but past that idk.
.

I know more information about my set up will be needed, ill be watching.

If a mod thinks that there is a better place for this thread could you move it there?

If you are concerned why you aren't getting much input. I don't think there are many familiar with your breakout board. We are not sure how or if or what kind of a signal(s) it might be capable of giving your vfd. I think you really need to poke at it a bit with a multi meter to try to figure out exactly what is going on, in order to have a chance of discerning how you should hook it up to your drive.

post your complete config as an archive ,
so long as you have 12v dc supplied to the board it should work, but of your pwm signal is inverted at some stage that can give problems .
i tend to take the 10 - 12v from the vfd ,
i'll be shortly looking at this specific board once i lay my hands on one ,

Did you ever get your hands on one?
I was searching the forum to see if there was an answer to this, low and behold my own answer is here and I never responded.
As of now I have ignored the 10v spindle feature from the board, put linuxcnc in pdm mode and i was roughly able to control my rpm through that.
I recently posted asking about rs485 through par port but that wont work.
I literally just have no idea how to use the 10v feature on this board.

yes i have the board , works fine ,
set the top rpm speed in your ini file , and you should get it ranged so 10v = full speed , and 5v = half speed etc
the lower speed may settle at say 50rpm rather than 0
make sure you set min speed as -5000 for example to get full range , in both forward and reverse if requiired
using a gpio pin to reverse the vfd using a relay is common , as is using another relay for off or disabled
that way the spindle does not rotate when not commanded

Maybe this is my issue? I went through my "my-mill.ini" file and found nothing related to spindle speed.
I have on/off, cw & cww through a relay, just trying to get more accurate rpm control now.

The necessary settings are likely to be in the HAL file.
