Does backlash have any effect when homing. I just noticed that one axis is moving the same distance as what I have my backlash set to. I do not ever remember noticing this before though.
It only seems to be happening when I perform a jog at max velocity over some distance. Not sure what that distance is yet, but if I just tap the jog then home it will sometimes move and sometimes not.

If you have enough backlash that you can see it, you really need to fix that. A CNC mill needs to have no backlash.

Yes that's true, but is this normal behavior. I couldn't find anything about backlash effects on homing and it's inconsistent behavior is odd. Also I could only verify that the position command was the same distance as the backlash compensation using halscope and when I probed the other axes I have backlash compensation on this wasn't happening.

I don't know what normal is for backlash compensation, I've never used it. I do know it has some limitations IIRC.
