5i25 with brushed DC was created by Bmk
Hi,
My first post here and new to all this.
I have tentatively selected a Mesa 5i25 as the basis for a R&D project. Machine is essentially 2 xyz gantries operating on a moving conveyor belt.
Ultimately this will be used with +/-10v signals to yaskawa servo drives for xyz axes. I have chosen the 7i77 for this, and also to handle my 6 encoders. For my test set up I would however like to run with 6 brushed gear-motors (20v/3A) controlled by PWM either via my own driver circuit, or more ideally by a Mesa product compatible with 5i25.
Does anyone know if I can configure a 6 GPIOs of 7i77 to run as PWMs in this configuration?
Thanks.

You can flash the 5i25 with a firmware that provides PWM on either the internal or external header.
The GPIO pins on the 7i77 are serially-addressed and can't update faster than the servi thread (typically 1kHz.)
Mesa have some brushed-motor drives in the 50-pin header format.

There is an adaptor to use the 7i77 / 7i76 etc with 50-pin FPGA cards, but not one to go the other way.
You might want to consider the 5i24 / 6i24 instead of the 5i25 / 6i25. There is a somewhat wider range of cards for those
