Best value for money pc for closed loop steppers was created by SvenH
I am preparing for a new build cnc that I will use closed loop steppers for.
I am wondering what the most value for money option is as far as the PC is concerned.
Is a new scratch build with H81 motherboard and a breakout board worth the money, or will I get better performance from "any second hand pc" that I add a mesa card to?
If so, I do not quite understand what to get as far as mesa hardware is concerned.
I do not mind building the PC, but I am a novice pc builder....

If you will use Mesa board for encoders then your PC will not be loaded with feedback configuration. Because of Mesa board will make all computations and give in linuxcnc finished information like as position and speed.
That's why you make choose standard workable configuration.
