LinuxCNC Version 2.5.4 -- ISO Wanted

Greetings,

Been trying to locate a repository for an ISO of LinuxCNC 2.5.4.

Did it ever exist?

If so, please send me a link to the file.

Hopefully, it is the Ubuntu "Try before you buy" system.

The reason for my search? My CNC mill is running 2.5.4 and I want to set up a separate computer to run a Simulator of Axis. I am relearning APT programming and the simulator is great to see if I cut my part in half.

Also, it has the needed libraries to compile the APT software.

Cheers,

David

The old 2.5 ISO can be downloaded here. (I think)
linuxcnc.org/iso/ubuntu-10.04-linuxcnc3-i386.iso

Greetings,

Got the ISO burned to a CD and running.

However, the AXIS version is 2.5.0?

What is the process to move up to 2.5.4? Is it a "package" update?

Cheers,

David

Actually you can update to 2.7 and still run Ubuntu 10.04.
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.6/html/common/Updating_LinuxCNC.html
linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-start...dating-linuxcnc.html

Or just connect to the internet and it will prompt you after a while...

Yes, just update ubuntu.

Actually, just run the software update program, don't actually update Ubuntu to a newer version, doing that will break the real time kernel and wreck the Linuxcnc install. Also now that Ubuntu 10.04 is out of support there are some problems with the software update, and It may not complete. A more reliable way may be to run Synaptic, click on mark all upgrades then click apply.

update=/upgrade
A "software update" updates a major (reference release) version of software, but does not upgrade it to the next major version (if one exists)

Greetings All,

I managed to upgrade Ubuntu 10.04 so LinuxCNC is now 2.5.4, the same as my milling machine.

I also installed the Debian package with LinuxCNC 2.7 on the same machine.

Now I can dual boot into either version.

Also, I have the APT360 programming software up and running. My original goal.

Many thanks to all that offered their help.

Cheers,

David
