Lathe X commands problem was created by Clive S
I am have a problem with the lathe and X sometimes moves in the wrong direction. In MDI mode.
I can't seem to find the scenario to repeat it. sometimes commanding X2 with send the tool forward and other times it will send it back.
This is when I am playing about with threading routine G76 and touched off to the Dia. eg. X10 and the dro indicated Dia 10.
and then going back to MDI
The Z is always correct with the commands.
Any ideas what scenario would cause this?

Most probably to short of step_time and step_space and dir_setup and dir_hold.
Power supply problems will also cause this, so try it at a lower and a higher speed (feed)
On some occasions a lose motor shaft will do that, but very rarely.

Tom

Tom Many thanks BUT having slept on it I think it is my bad. The lathe if functioning correctly. It is me not fully understanding the way I was touching off in Dia mode.
Of course if I touch off on to a 12mm bar and put 12mm into the box then commanding X2 or X-2 will move the tool forward.
But if I touch off on the same bar and put 0 in the box then command X2 or X-2 it will move forward and then back.
