It shure looks like too much flex in the machine and some missed steps.
Can you post pictures of the machine?

Without more information, it looks like probably a combination of lost steps and maybe some backlash problems.
(too hi acceleration + backlash compensation will often give results just like these.)

That is a Proxon MF70 right? it should be good for engraving as it is quite a sturdy machine.
The link you pested is to old so start here,

wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl
Also check for anything loose on the machine.

I would start by putting a dial indicator on your table and push up against the non running spindle. Do some tests to make sure that a commanded 1/2 an inch or 10 MM axis move is really what it is doing, first at slow speeds then at the maximum it is setup for. If it can't pass these tests you will never get acceptable results from it.

Adding to what others have suggested, you'll also want to set up your strap clamps differently. If it isn't already, you're just asking for your material to move on you the way you have it clamped now.

This video shows some of the basics for clamping:

Looks like backlash to me.

Show some pics of your machine and the drive trains...... ballscrew, rack and pinion or whatever you use.

Its pretty much symetrical in the way it is cutting, does the same oval everytime and the spacing looks right, so something in your drivetrain is out.

Just my 2 cents.
