You only need to be concerned about the HAL files in your "~/linuxcnc/configs folder.
5axiskins is a standard module, but it hidden under "kins" in the list. But You are casting the net too wide, and seem to be looking through all the demo configs.

There are dozens of .hal files in "File system," and several in the user folder. The very first file I checked (which wasn't in the user folder) had a "loadrt ________" word that is not on those lists (5axiskins). Any idea what I should do now?

I see. Thanks. In that folder, there are only a few .hal files. There is a bit of variety in what follows "loadrt" in these files, including:
-a single word that is on the list
-a single word that is not on the list
-a word that is on the list followed by words that are not on the list and equals signs
-words that are not on the list, square brackets, and equals signs
I think that's all I saw, but there may have been others.
Also I think we don't want to back up the whole system because it will be too big.

You only are about the first word after the loadrt or loadusr.
What word is not on the list?

Not on the list are:
[EMCMOT]EMCMOT
probe_parport
[HOSTMOT2](DRIVER)
hal_parport (this line is commented out though)
There are comments around some instances of these, if more information would be helpful.

probe_parport is not used on newer versions of LinuxCNC. It was removed, rather than being custom component,

The capitalised ones are references to INI file entries. And those are very unlikely to be anything unusual.
But, it might be worth checking that you are using a conventional Hostmot2 firmware.

Thanks for your help, everyone. We ended up finding a way to back up the entire computer. But this information is good to know for the future.
