CPU Speed A Factor??? was created by fc60
Greetings,
Running LinuxCNC 2.5.4 with a 1GHz processor chip.
Created a program cutting a surface that output LOTS of point-to-point data.
Programmed feedrate was 10 inch-per-minute.
Watching the Velocity on Axis, the feed never got much over 2.5 inch-per-minute.
Is it possible the CPU was not able to process the data fast enough?
Cheers,
Dave

Its more likely that your speed is limited by the trajectory planner and blending
For profiles made of many small segments, you should try adjusting the blending
with G64 Px.xxx
Also LinuxCNC version 2.7 has a new trajectory planner that deals with profiles made with many
small segments better than the old planner, so it may be time to upgrade...

Greetings,
Ahh, G64!!! Time to dig out the manual and do some reading.
Many thanks,
Dave

Also acceleration is a huge factor for that type of jobs.

Greetings,
The mill is 12x40 inch.
X Y and Z are driven by NEMA42 motors rated at 12N.m
Is there something within LinuxCNC to indicate the acceleration values?
Cheers,
Dave

That must be a very big and heavy machine, so leave the acceleration as is.
You should go with PCW advice and install 2.7
