Does anyone know the outside dimensions of the 2.2KW unit. I see no problem using a 2.2KW unit with a .8KW motor as long as the current parameter is set properly. Opinions welcomed.

No problem at all just set the max current.
I drive a 3KW motor with a 1.5 KW VFD from time to time without issues as it newer gets at full load, not even close.

Received the new 2.2 KW VFD. Installed it and it took right off. Everything is working but the speed produced by the spindle is off by about 20% across the range. How are your speeds? parameters are set for 400hz and 24000 rpm. I think I can probably increase the 2400 by 20% and fix the speed but I'm curious about others success.

To be honest, I haven't even checked :-)

I tend to set lathe spindle speed by chip colour and surface finish.

Thanks Andy. I'm probably nit picking for my uses but I wanted to make sure things are set up properly. I tried setting parameter 144 higher by 20% but it did nothing. I'm sure it could be handled in HAL but I'm not very accomplished in that area. If the sword could be altered by 20% that should do it. I'm surprised that the VFD isn't more accurate. Using mostly AB in the past they were much closer although not perfect. I checked my tach against the fluorescent lights and it is pretty accurate.

20% is exactly the difference between 50Hz and 60Hz. Though that is unlikely to be the source of the error with a 400hz motor.

P144 should be the motor speed at 50Hz. You would need to set that _lower_ to get higher frequency requests for the same commanded speed.

Sorry to go off topic, but could you please do a short explanarion with pictures on what is a good cut and what not. I do a lot of smal spindle shafts for the enravers on a smal lathe, usualy ending up with good results, but occasionaly i mess up something and the results are pittyful.
Thank you.

I tried lowering parameter 144 to 1920 and raising it to 2880 and neither change affected the spindle speed.

I have found that parameter 144 does not affect the accuracy at all. I set the maximum spindle speed overide in the ini file to .8 so now the speeds are correct until I can figure this out.
