Dibean linuxcnc was created by nissjay
Hi All,
I recently down loaded and installed new copy of linuxcnc (one week ago) but as my old linuxcnc was on UBUNTU I used GEDIT to edit G codes. But new version is on DIBEAN I can not find any g code editing program.
As such please some one let me know.
1. How to download and install the g code editor for Dibean ?
2. How to download and iinstall Cad/Cam program which reliably works with linuxcnc?

Thanks
Nissan

You can use any text editor to edit g-code. Gedit, is the text editor bundled with the Gnome desktop environment. If you choose to you can install it with Synaptic or apt-get install gedit. But it will have to install a lot of other software. The are one or two text editors that come with the new Linuxcnc ISO. I think it is called Mousepad and there are many others that you could install. If you search ini file for your Linuxcnc configuration for "gedit" then replace "gedit" with "mousepad" and save it then when you select edit g-dode in the axis menu it will open the file with Mousepad instead of Gedit.

I don't like Mousepad, and gedit installs _far_ too many dependencies.

I have recently started using Geany, and I like it for code editing, it is pretty much a complete IDE.

X 2 Andy, I'm not even sure how I found it but I get annoyed if a file opens in gedit now after only a week. I've kinda noticed you can tie it to a compiler but I have not tried that
