2.7.11 kernel? was created by 64dodge
I upgraded ubuntu 10.04 with linuxcnc 2.5 to 2.6 to 2.7 but when I uname -r to check kernel it says 2.6.32-122.
Is this right? Theres no place in grub other than this kernel to boot to.
I have been using this drive checking latency in many old pc's upgrading as I go.
Latency test works in about half (the newer half but still old 1.5-2.5ghz) but 1ghz and slower
ubuntu works fine but latency test or lcnc wont run.
Second question can 8.04 be upgraded to lcnc 2.6 or 2.7?
Thanks
Tim

That is the correct kernel version number for Lucid, but it should say 2.6.32-122-rtai. The kernel version number has nothing to do with the Linuxcnc version number.
No, Linuxcnc 2.6+ will not run on 8.04.

Grub sometimes hides the RTAI kernel in a "previous kernels" sub-folder.
But, updating LinuxCNC shouldn't cause any kernel changes, assuming you used the package manager rather than a livedCD reinstall?

Thanks to you both Todd & Andy. The difference in software and kernel version had me very confused. Yes it did have rtai, just forgot to type it in post. I upgraded with package manager all went well. There were no sub folders in grub only this kernel to pick from.
Thanks again for setting me straight.
