Do the drives output conventional quadrature signals for use by the controller?
What control signals do the amps accept?

Thanks Andy:
I ended up starting a new thread in the Boards area and got the following boards ordered.
7i92M - 7i77 - 7i76 and two THCs... Now working on learning Glade and start writing Python methods

I don't think that you will need any of that.
Y1=Y, Y2=Y+U.
you can do that with an and2 in HAL.

In truth Andy it may take a little bit more than that, depending on the level of functionality and flexibility that is desired.
That is what I found when I built the config that I'm using for temporarily slaving the Z and W axis on my double headed router.

I was only really talking about the Y position. Yes, coupling and uncoupling the two Z axes might be hard. Or might be trivial if they both use THC.

I know you were talking about the Y. I was just pointing to my config as an example of what can be done in HAL to slave two axis together. I think this application would be best served with the two Y axis slaved with U defining the distance between them. And it would probably be a lot simpler than my temporary slaving of W to the Z.
