Out on Hood Canal in Washington State. Just north of Lilliwaup, down the road from Duckabush.

If you continue to get the sserial errors on startup, it may be a hardware failure of
some kind (maybe electrical damage when changing cables?) so I would request an
RMA and send the complete card/cable pair back to Mesa for evaluation/repair/replacement

The computer starts up and when linuxcnc is started no errors are shown. With power on the 7i77 and the mill servos powered up everything looks like it should until jogging any axis. That's when the following error occurs. The serial port errors appeared later when I was operating the machine in manual mode.
Don't know if that makes any difference.

Thanks

About the only thing I remember doing was disconnecting the serial cable from the computer to see if I had enough length to move the box to another location.

Which serial cable?

Sorry I am giving you bad information. The serial port errors appear because the power to the 7i77 (which is in a separate box) is turned off. Otherwise the only error messages are joint x following errors.

Sorry for muddying the waters.

OK so it looks like at least the 5I25 --> 7I77 stuff is working
I would check the analog outputs and the drive enables

You may want to set the following error limits wider for testing, maybe 1/2 an inch or so.
This is because the first thing that happens with a following error is that the drive enables are
turned off and the analog outputs are disabled

Found it! It was a loose connection at the P7 connector on the PCB803 card. Once I reseated that everything worked as before. I am sure this is because of something I was doing while looking into getting rid of the old anilam control completely.

Thanks for leading me back to the light..
