NVUM/NVEM Ethernet controller was created by dasbrow
I am pretty new to Linuxcnc and bought one of the EVUM 6 axis Ethernet controllers from ebay and now that I have done a little more research I am leaning to the possibility that this was a mistake. Has anyone tried to use one of these? Or do I have a new paper weight?

I would be very surprised if a motion controller product like that (designed for Mach3) could be made to operate as a breakout board/hardware step-generator for linuxcnc. If it is possible it would probably require a complete reprogramming of its firmware. There are far easier options.

I think that you have three options:
1) Cheapest: Keep the driver and use Mach3. Mach3 has lots of happy users, it must work well enough for most.
2) Most expensive: Sell or discard the driver and buy something LinuxCNC-supported
3) Most difficult: Write a HAL driver for the NVEM board modelled on hm2_eth. This would require information about the communications protocol that I have not been able to find in any of the online manuals

You need a closed loop system. I have a NVEM soft only for the open loop system.Thank you .
