Is this a retorical question?
10 years ago you could ask that and have a heated discussion that would usualy end up with more windows users wining that argument, as linux was a bit harder to setup. Nowdays that is like asking what is better : sulfuric acid or beer? Windows beeing sulfuric acid.
They are not in the same universe anymore, just start by installing each of them :
Windows takes minimum 4 to 6 hours just te be ready for use if you have a nice graphic card, after 20 to 30 restarts.
Linux takes about 20 to 40 minutes, including drivers for said card and the time to read the instructions on the net ( you CAN read instructiions or do anything else while linux in installing, can not do that on windows ).
There are a lot more reasons for not only leaning towards Linux, but for absolutely exluding windows as an option.
Regards,
Tom.
P.S.
CCNA still exists???? :)

Apparently from some of the spam being thrown around some other boards by a user with the exact same name as the OP.

I have this feeling that the OP may have no idea what Linuxcnc is all about, probably just saw Linux in the forum name and thought "hmmm maybe these guys can do my homework, I'll ask a simple question and someone may start comparing the architectural differences between the 2"

Luckily my TinFoil Hat (open source hardware) protects against these exact situations outlined above.

One thing there is no argument about....Linux is in a field of it's own for running Linuxcnc.
