Hi , first of all thank you for letting me in, im a bet newbie on this subject (tho i have great programming skills) but where i work there is a cnc plasma machine (from early 90's) controlled by an old computer and it seems that has somo integrated hardware to talk with the software (wincam/winplasma) i have tried to clone my computer (because that program only runs on win 98 ) but cant override security so i was thinking if i can make a similar use with that machine with linuxcnc , if someone can give me a clue where to start i have access to all files (cnc is working well but i'm afraid that computer wont last long) , so please if someone can advice me how and where to start i will be so grateful thanks in advance (sorry for my bad english)

Open that orange box and take some closeup pics of the internals.
Then we can suggest something.

Hard to tell what is in the box in detail, but I would suggest that a vacuum cleaner would keep it running a bit longer.
It looks like, probably, two servo drives. Do those have any markings on them?

Hello guys,
the machine in picture use a cnc that is not based on operating system but it use a z80 processor board.
The computer where is installed the program Winplasma/Wincam is based on windows OS and in this case you can
use a linux pc and a virtualized windows to run it. Be aware the software need a security access so you need to verify if this can be updated. I am able to provide upgrades. Contact me for any requests This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Dear Peskanova,
I'm Mic from Germany and hope that you can help me. I bought a similar machine like you. The big problem is that I don't have the winplasma program. And I don't have the required dongle, too. Do you get your machine running?

Hallo Mic,
I would suggest starting a new topic as this one stalled with no solution.
Machine looks nice.
Retrofitting it is doable for sure, it uses 2 servo drives and probably a separate drive for Z if it has THC.
See Andy's reply/request above, do a lot of pictures of everything inside the cabinet, wiring, motors, encoders, tachos, etc. That makes it much easier for us to help.

Hallo Tommy,
thanks for your quick answer! This week I will clean up the machine a bit and try to make some signigficant pictures of everything. I will let you hear.
