Hello,
im attempting too hookup a relay to my mesa 7i76. i put the signal cable on tb5 port 15.
this is my first build i have only used relays on arduinos before an im not sure i have the wiring right.
i attached i picture showing how i have it wired. any help would be appreciated.

Take a look at this page on my website.

gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/configs/7i77.html

If you look at page 16 of the 7i76 manual you will see that you need to connect 8-32vdc to field power. Typically you use 24vdc relays with a CNC machine.

Thank you, I did some research and looked at your website. I shoudnt have used the 5v Arduino relay with a signal line. I just ordered a 24v normal relay.

Be aware that there is a max current rating of about 40mA for a relay and it is preferable to fit a fly back diode across the coil .
