After successfully finding the Logitech F310, and getting Axis running, then going into hal configuration I see all the hal assigned inputs.
However, operating the buttons on the Logitech gives no response on any of the hal inputs in hal watch.
Never had this problem with the original el-cheapo joypad that failed mechanically.
I'm running Axis 2.7.11
Anyone with ideas to help would be appreciated.

I had a joypad that needed a button pressing before it would work in HAL.
Something to do with having two compatibility modes or something.

The logitech has outputs when plugged into my MacBook Pro. I found a 2 position switch on the bottom that acted as though it turned the device off in one position. I've tried both positions on the linuxcnc.
On top there is a "mode" switch that toggles between the Hat button and Joy button functions.

Success! 2 position switch on bottom had to be in the X position. less /proc/bus/input/devices yielded name as X-Box.
Now getting response in hal-show. Discovered button on top labeled mode has no output. It apparently toggles the output of the joy stick and left Hat button.
