Newby- rebuild prolight mill and lathe was created by Agoodevans58
Just wanted to introduce myself to the community. I have a prolight 1000 mill and a 3000 turning Center. Currently run with old floppy drive PC’s and looking for a rebuild. Would like to run stand alone? Still getting ideas.
Thanks in advance.

I personally use mesa for everything that does not fit on a table, parallel port for what does fit there.

Thanks TommyLight, both my machines are desktop but parallel ports are now obsolete. I have an old PC with P.Port but no USB or network card, so I can’t transfer files. Can you control a cnc machine via an Ethernet connection?

You can also transfer files through parallel port, used that a lot back in the days of pentium 1, i think the software used was named FX...... never mind, just memories.
There are Mesa ethernet boards also, i use 7i92m on a 3.5 ton machine.

Don't take this as a recommendation to use the parallel port (it is limited, but cheap) but plenty of motherboards still have a parallel port either on the back panel:

or on an internal header.
