No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationIt sounds like it might be worth putting a noise filter in the plasma cutter power supply. eBay has many of them and they are fairly inexpensive.
As a random example (in the wrong country, probably)
The bigger ones might filter better:
Filters are often needed for VFDs because the inverter can send a lot of noise down the mains. A plasma cutter is a big inverter..

I have narrowed it down to a power line noise issue. I have already ordered a couple filters for my control circuits and computer. I am very familiar with the line transient issue, just did not think it would be the problem here. Step by step isolation of all the components including the gantry and table itself, an total removal of the plasma cutter is, to me, a clear indicator it is line noise.
I am even going one step further and get an input line reactor for the Plasma cutter. As this power line is also connect to all of my shop and ultimately my cottage electronics.
Line reactors are typically used in VFD applications with long leads to the motor, but there are three other applications of which this is two. But only one applies. Usually input reactors protect the power device (in this case the plasma cutter) from receiving line transients, but it can also stop the power device from introducing transients back into the supply lines.
Thanks for the feedback...pun intended!

Rather than a line reactor, the devices I linked to (which are filters, mainly capacitive I think) are specifically designed to be put in the power feed circuits of VFDs and similar.
Though I am wondering if your plasma machine has a problem, as I don't think that they are normally expected to kill everything on the same circuit through noise.

It only takes out the I/O communications. The motion control is unaffected. The plasma cutter itself work fine too. I can run the program and I have a remote trigger that I can turn the torch on and off as I want, while the cnc program carries out it's task. Crude but affective.
I will know better once I get the EMI filters. I just have to take it one step at a time. If I make too many changes at once, I won't know definitively what the problem was.
