Connecting differential Encoder phases A and B and also a 5V TTL index to 7i76 was created by billnixon
4 axis mill with 5i25 and 7i76
Our spindle motor is connected to the spindle via a belt and pulley. The spindle motor has a differential encoder and is connected to a 7i76 and the counts and velocity are working correctly. We installed a 5V hall effect sensor on the spindle pulley so we could get an index signal for coordinated moves. Can I set the encoder jumpers on the 7i76 to have phases A and B differential and the index signal be 5V? If so, which jumper is for the index signal, W4, 5, or 6?
Do I rather need to run the index signal through a gpio pin on the 7i76? It seems that the 7i76 encoder component built into the 7i76 replaces the need for a separate hal encoder component. Is that correct? I'm not sure how to route the index signal to the built-in encoder on the 7i76, if not through the encoder inputs.
I'm stumped both methods. Any help would be appreciated.

The 7I76 encoder interface has individual mode jumpers for A,B and Index so you would just jumper A/B for differential and Index for TTL
W4 Index mode
W5 B mode
W6 A mode
W4 Index mode
W5 B mode
W6 A mode
