End Stop wiring was created by Ewok2
Hello
I have seen to type of end stop wiring.
The one with end stop in // link directly to the ENA input from the TB6600 driver => the end stop send a 5V when reach
The one with end stop in serial link to the card (for me a Mesa 7I96) => a constant 5V that drop to 0V in case of end stop

In the 1rst case I am very close to the command and no sftware in the loop. But the // end stop with no voltage by default is less secure as a cut in a wire will not be detected and will inhibit the detection...
In the second case the detection is more secure, but the inhibition of the motor will pass throught LinxCNC and so depend on bug failure...

What do you recommand ?

Thanks

I don't recommend hard-wiring the limit switches to the stepper drive enable, that makes it impossible to jog off of the limit, and means that you can;t use the switches for homing.

Thanks for reply
1rst I also have some sensor dedicated to the zero.
2nd I am not fully agree with you. For my point of vue, the end stop are a last chance to avoid to damage the CNC.
So I prefer the HW than the SW. More reliable.
If I was confident with SW I will count only on the SW end stop privide by Linux CNC :-)

The way I see it, if LinuxCNC is broken enough not to be reading limit switches it is also very unlikely to be generating step pulses.

I would have a different opinion with a servo machine.

That was kinda my thinking. If you can't trust Linuxcnc as your motion controller then don't use it, find something else!

Sory rodw but LinuxCnc is wonderful but software.
That mean bug can occure...
And in this case I prefer not to damage HW.
So I have choosen the direct connection to the TB6600 :-)
And by the way it works fine...

know time to add the zero sensor, and in this case directly connected to LinuxCNC ;-) or directly connected to Mesa Card.

Thanks

linuxcnc never failed for me as the endstop as it is servo tread so no problem on realtime issues
the switches are controlled 1000 times a second
the tb6600 is more buggy on that
and better to get the ENA to the controller as power up full Motor Amps can Break the TB
