lost password, how to copy configuration. was created by travis036
ok, admittedly, it has been quite some time since i used my CNC. in the time away, i have completely forgotten my login and password (i have tried all the past passwords i could remember, without luck).
now, before i disconnect my control computer to bring in and load a fresh copy of LinumCNC 2.7, i think i remember that the install disk is also a live OS. is it possible to boot the live OS, and grab the config files to a flash drive? and what files are pertinent to copy? i would start completely fresh, but for some stupid reason i never wrote down the machine calibration, and other numbers.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Yes and yes, you need the /home/whatever_user_name/linuxcnc
Just grab the linuxcnc folder. It usually is very small.

turns out i had the right password, but i was trying the wrong username. i made a copy of the config anyway, for just in case. and this time, i wrote the login info down.
