Hi,

A simple question...

I am a new LinuxCNC user. In a few days (I hope so..) I'll receive my Mesa cards to retrofit an old machine.
In the start I will playing around with all the settings en features of LinuxCNC. This means "crashes" :).

Is it sufficient to make a copy of the folder (INI, Hal, ... ) and the desktop entry to start LinuxCNC to make a backup of my configurations on LinuxCNC?
I mean... If I change hardware (PC) and install a fresh copy of LinuxCNC, and then copy the folder and the desktop entry to the new PC,
will this be sufficient ?

Regards
Peter

You may also want to save any subroutines or other files you may have in the ngc dir. Also if you've created any custom hal components or such files you will want to save them. Otherwise all the important stuff should be in your config dir.

to a new stretch
you may face all configs remade by the Loader

SO safe the Configfolder and the NC_file folder without the Root Examples
