Hi all,
I am working on building a Plasma 5x10. I am using AC servos with 5i25 and 7i77. Should I use stepper for Z axis to control with THC?
Can I get stepgens from 7i77 to control the Z?

Not, directly but you can use a cheap Ebay breakout on the second 5I25 port
to add some buffered step/dir outputs

I dont want to use a cheap breakouit board.
Can't I use a 7i78? Is there a bitfile for this combo? 5i25-7i77 and 7i78?

You can use a stepper or a servo, there are already configs for all types of hardware, and there are two types of configs for plasma that are fully automated, the thc_toma one that i use (still) on all machines has separate configs depending on the hardware that need editing the IO pins and velocity and accelerations, and the PlasmaC made by Phill that works with all types of hardware, also needs a bit of editing.
I would recommend using the PlasmaC config, it is much more advanced.
