Thanks for the explanation of how to do it properly.
I have wired the buttons, they seem to work.
I have also wired the estops.
I have 3 estops buttons: on the milling head, on the upcoming controller box and on the vistacnc pendant (that is connected to the controller).
The pendant has both software estop and a separate wire where I can do phisical estop, but that's not wired yet.
I have used the or2/and2 combinations to wire the buttons.
I am using two inputs on the mesa to join all the signals.
When I depress the estop on the pendant, linux reacts and estops the software button.
However when I depress the other estop buttons, the software estop won't do anything, I need to enable it manually.
You can see here my .hal file for pendant and external buttons, I have merged them so that I'm not referencing signals from another .hal file.
My changes related to estop are in the following section:
# 13---E-STOP: pendant + external buttons

I still have the same problem, if I depress the estops, I need to enable them by clicking the screen button.
Btw, I am using gmoccapy, if this makes any difference for my problem.
