Why is my jitter so high? was created by Agawa
Hello.. I am experiencing very high jitter over 200000+ sometimes when I am stressing my computer for the latency test. I have put together parts from one of my old gaming systems that are fairly good. My system is listed below
M5A78L-M motherboard
AMD FX8350 CPU
16GB g skill ddr3 ram
XFX HD Radeon 6870 gfx card
500gb Seagate HD
All these parts should be over kill for Linux CNC
Any advice or tips I'm I missing something here?

Disable evrything not needed in BIOS, like power saving, CPU sleep states, speedstepping, virtualization, serial ports, modem, qfan, etc.

Hi Welcome
what is the Hardware you plan to use
if you go for a ETH CNC it is good to go
WHEN does the Jitter ocoure sems you got a IBM based Graphics onbord so it may be SMI every 5sec it jumps up
reset and see when it comes to that number imidetly or after some seconds
you can get rid of it by start script
your pc got more then one core
pin your PC to ISOCPU=1 in grub bootloader
and you will see things getting below 50k
on a Stepper System with a Parport you can get up to 3m/min at 0,01/step with 300k jitter
