Those look amazing. I think we should skip the labels or at least the labels must be generic; like L1 = Gauge length , L2= flute length, D1 = Diameter
Other wise we'll need a thousand images
very Impressive!

A quick look at those images on sample blender screen:
labels are hard to read at that size but otherwise looks great!

Wooot, Im almost a part of LinuxCNC
Well, the labels are just an "idea" anyway.
I dont know whats possible in the new GUI.
In the old xmp htm mixup everything needs to be a single "face"
beside or above each other.
If its possible to put boxes infront of an image in the new one,
(like in my example) there are a ton more options.

Currently I use just flat images.
It depends on what the images are used for;
If using for tool information data entry then the labels are important.
If for a tool indicator less so.
In the sample shown, you see the diameter is written in a label below the image.
The other option of course is to have the tool and the label separate and combine them later as you suggested - I'm not sure how QT handles that but I'm sure it can.

working on hard candy icons as we speak for my interface ...
www.forum.linuxcnc.org/21-axis/40659-axi...ersion-of-old-friend
I think this could be configured to enlarge buttons etc for hd screens, by means of a wm info - call and scale accordingly.
it was modified primarily for a touchscreen interface of many existing axis configs.
it is modified axis.tcl but dose not change the structure of axis at all, only cosmetic and a few new functions
ie. color changes of interface to distinguish machine, and color feedback for running job.
A timer for the runtime of a job, set spindle feedback, hide the gcode panel on demand etc.
