Greetings,

I am trying to figure out whether or not the 7i74 is supported by the 7i76e expansion port. I believe the simple answer is yes, however based on what I have found, I think my setup is a bit unique:

--I am already using a 7i78 to add additional axis, and therefore I have flashed the bitfile for this.
--If I need to use a different bitfile to use the 7i74, then also using 7i78 is a problem as it would seem I need a rather unique bitfile and it is time for me to learn to use the Xilinx suite.

My questions are:

1) Does the 7i76e need a different bitfile to use 7i74 (along with my 7i78) or will the sserial driver just support it as is?

2) Furthermore, will I lose use of any of the I/O pins on TB5/TB6 if I am using 7i78 on P1 connector and 7i74 on P2 connector? I haven't found any schematic for the 7i76e and it is unclear to me if there are any shared I/O pins on P1/P2.

If it matters, I will be using the RS422 ports to connect to multiple boards which I will ultimately be sending RS-274 codes to (and receiving feedback from) for various features I need to add to my setup. I am very new to RS-274 and motion control in general and figuring this out as I go along. I greatly appreciate all of the help that is provided on this forum.

It needs a specific bitfile with a 7I78 pinout on one expansion connector and a 7I74/SSerial pinout on the other

No, they are all independent

Note the standard 7I74 pinout configs are SSerial not UART and generic UARTS are not supported very well yet by the hostmot2 driver/hal
