Another Z axis question.

Thanks for any ideas on this . And thanks for this forum. No matter how I set the microsteps on the drivers, or configs. the Z axis will make a good first cut, then will not cut any deeper on the other rounds. However if I use a higher amp setting it will plunge too deep. I'm new at this so I'm sure I am missing a simple solution. Maybe a bad program ? Fireball X90 router. Linuxcnc Thanks.

To second what Tommy said, What you describe is just strange and does not fit how we understand steppers.

First of all, and unscientifiic. In stepconf:
1) Make your step length 10000nS, and see what happens.
2) invert the step pulse output.

Then, purely as a diagonstic step, please edit your INI file to reduce speed and acceleration by a factor of 10 and tell us if the results are different.
(the machine will be slow and probably won't make good parts, but how the two configs differ in performance will give us clues.
