Wiring of Limit and Home Switches and Pin Configurations was created by ytiuqibu
In our attempt to overcome the problem described in another thread of jerky homing motion we have decided to rewire our switches with shielded cable.
While discussing this we determined that our breakout board is equipped with two separate pins designated one for limit switches (11) and the other for homing switches (12). Upon looking at how our switches are actually wired all six switches are wired in series to the limit switches pin.
Being somewhat naive I now believe that in order to use some of these switches as both limit and home switches we will need to connect the three dual purpose switches to the designated home pin while the other three remain on the limit pin - is this correct?
Assuming we have done this correctly do we then designate the homing pin (12) as All Homes + Limits and the other pin (11) as All Limits in the configuration setup? The suggestion in the Operating Without Homing Switches (page 45 of the manual) that the home switch be set to Minimum Limit + Home (each axis) would seem to imply that more pins are required for such a configuration.
Attached is the wiring schematic for the switch and breakout board connections (amongst other things).

Seem to be ok.
Read the homing and regard two things
1. Drive only one axis after the other. Maybe tool to save position first.
2. And after home of each axis is found let it drive to a position that does not trip the home-switch anymore.

If using home and limit normally there is a home offset so it will come off the switch when it's home.
Then you need to set a home sequence

Thanks for both these replies.
We have now rewired again, this time putting the home and limit switch on each axis onto its own parallel port pin.
This has allowed us to do some systematic troubleshooting and we are now only experiencing some joint errors on X and Z while Y is behaving itself.

If it is only a Hobby CNC you dont need MIN MAX limits as the Software Limits at all will hold the machine
KEEP in Mind
HOME is the Position the Machine ends UP after touching the Switch
HOME_OFFSET is the LOCATION of the Switch to the G53
and for Smooth homing do set a final Speed to drive from HOME_OFFSET to HOME
HOME_FINAL_VEL = 5.0
also use starting from 0...2 to get eatch axis homed private
HOME_SEQUENCE = 0
With this setup you can HOME all axis/Joints with only one PIN in use
