Shaft gear that turns two gears? was created by eiger3970
I am trying to design a gear type that can turn two gears on one shaft.

E.g. Pinion/gear 1 turns for 2 or 4 seconds (a motor will control the 2 or 4 second shaft turn) and gear two turns for 30 seconds (whilst not turning gear 1 more than the 2 or 4 seconds)?

I have some ideas on how to make this work, but am not 100% clear just yet.

Any suggestions, as there's so many 'magical' gears out there that can do anything?

If they are both turning at the same speed what about an electro mechanical clutch? Let it lock in one gear to the shaft for 2 or 4 seconds

Check some 3D printer extruders with 2 filaments and a single motor, they turn one or the other gear depending on motor direction, but the filament moves in the same direction in both cases.

Or do you need a Geneva Motion?

It isn't clear if two gears rotate one shaft, or one shaft rotates two gears...
