Hello,

I'm an old linux user and beginner in CNC stuff. I know linux CNC is not using USB port.

I own (as many) a chinese 6040Z CNC router, with USB port, and a copy of Mach3 on an old PC with windows XP (!), as all my computers are on Linux.
I hate this Mach3 software, and I would like so much use a Linux solution.

So my question is, how can I convert my USB 6040Z to a Parallel 6040Z ?

thank you if you can help me :-)

PS Administrators : please put this message in a more appropriate subforum is necessary...

Can you upload some pictures of the connections and the electronics box, that would help.

I think I have to change this "YOC-USBM,-V2.2", but what would be a "sweet" replacement ?

The 4 grey ribbon cables that connect the drives to the usb board should plug right into that parallel port board pictured above. Then all you need is to figure out the limit switches and spindle wires.

It's probably what I need, but excuse my ignorance, what's the name of this kind of card (BOB?), and where can I purchase it ?

They are all over ebay. Or Google parallel port breakout board.
www.ebay.com/itm/CNC-5-Axis-Interface-Br...c:g:iwMAAOSwrHJdOIY3
They also need both a 5v and 12v dc power supply.
