A watchdog bite is pretty serious, it means a pretty massive real time delay
If the system had been working, it may indicate a hardware failure in the PC

What PC hardware are you using?

Optiplex 790?

If so that uses a Intel Ethernet chip so you need to turn of IRQ coalescing
as shown in the hm2_eth manual

Was this working for some time and suddenly failed?

Do you have all power management options disabled in the BIOS?

You can get some idea of the Ethernet performance with a ping test
(pinging the 7I92 should result in consistent times of 80 to 120 usec except maybe the first ping)

If you had any setting in BIOS disabled, first thing to check is if by any chance someone reset the BIOS to default.
Another thing to check is if there are any power or motor cables going parallel to the ethernet cable. As far as possible.
Use a 3 prong power cable for the PC, with grounding. Check if there is grounding at that site.

I did not turn off IRQ coalescing. Is this something that will happen or possible?

I dont think it ever worked properly. I had it do it once or twice when I first installed it.
I will check the ping, although I did ping it before with no issues.

The hm2_eth manual page explains how to disable irq coalescing in the interfaces file

This is something that should be done but is not likely to be the cause of the issue.

Since you did not just get random real time warnings, you got a real time delay
long enough to trip the watchdog (probably set to 5 ms or more). This is more likely a
problem with the host PCs BIOS setup (power management) or a hardware issue with
the PC.

I suspect swapping the PC would be the easiest route ( just moving the hard drive from
old PC to new PC and setting up the new PCs Ethernet if necessary )

A slightly newer vintage corporate PC that works well is the HP 8300 Elite USDT
These are usually less than $100 with 4G of RAM and a hard drive

I used one of those HP compaqs for my Biesse. It is 5i25 and 7i77 though, but never had a problem like this.
Ill try and get one and swap out the computer.

I bought 4 of the dell's though, so I will set pone up with 7i92 and see if I can get this whipped.

thanks PCW and Tommy.

P.S. Tommy, you play pinball?
