X and Y movement when sitting still? was created by Catch22
Just wondering if there is any way to get rid of the .0004 movement on x and y axis. I know the linear scales resolution is .0004 and that's how much it's moving back and forth. Is there anyway to stop this other than putting encoders on each motor?

You can add some deadzone to the PID tuning though this is always a bit of a compromise

Ok what is the compromise, not as accurate?

Yes you will lose the deadzone setting worth of position resolution

Note that if you have a rapid dither, you can often reduce this substantially by adjusting
the drives zero (you can also do this in LinuxCNC by adjusting the "BIAS" in the calibrate menu)
