Parallel Port card that works PCIe

I thought that I would document this as finding a card that works can be a bit of a nightmare .

I have just picked up 5 of these Startech PEX1P Parallel Port 1 Port Adapter PCIe Card second hand for £25 inc post.

They all work :)

Now the question is, is it better to use a PCIe card or the built in PPort on the PC

I use PCI cards to experiment and the built in for machine control.
This way if i mess something up, just throw the card, not the PC.
There is no real difference there, some add on cards can not do X mode, but i doubt you will need that. That mode sets it to 8 outputs and 9 inputs.
PCI card can change the address on power on if the BIOS is set to assign the IRQ and memory addresses automatically, so if that happens for the PCI-E ones, set that assignment to manual.
Since now i can get complete working PC's for 25 Euro occasionally, i do not buy them any more, but i have 2 left.
