I'll test it out. Will linuxcnc give me warning if the latency is no good?

So I have it working with double the default thread.
The thing is, if I don't have glxgears running in the background, I get a real-time error and the hm2 error immediately on opening.
I'm tempted to just run glxgears continuously and call it a day.
