SSerial Port Numbering 7i92 & 7i74 was created by BeagleBrainz
Just being a little pedantic and what to check my thinking.
I get that the ports on the 7i76 map to the ports 0 & 1 on channel 0 of the 7i92.
I can see that on the 7i92 channel 1 has 6 ports, are they 0-5, assuming the ports are 0-7.
Or are they 1-6, assuming the ports are 1 - 8.
On the 7i92_7i76_7i74D.pin file the Rx\Tx lines start counting at 1.
The 7i74 manual has Rx\Tx lines start counting from 0.
The 7i92 has only 6 Rx\Tx .
So what is the mapping and how do these map to the hostmot2 sserial setup parameter ? And what is the mapping to the physical 8 port connector on the 7i74.
I hope I've explained the issue I have myself in.

Thanx, you've all been a great help, but I sorted it out.
Actually I'm going to have a whinge.
I do As Much as I can to help out, creating ISOs, keeping a repo for the ISO yet when I have a question, mostly no one chimes in until Rod replies, once Rod chimes in others do as well. And Chris, he'll help out when there's code issues.
Do I smell ?
Have I pissed you all off ?
My questions don't make sense ?
Or should I just chuck out the MESA hardware, finish with Linuxcnc and buy a copy of Mach4. And No don't ask to buy any of the Mesa gear cos I aint gunna do no one no favours if it comes to that.

Hm,
If your kidding :
If not: I haven't done the statistics but maybe
a) your questions are advanced and only few users can help
b) you find the solution before anybody has a chance to answer
c) you're having a bad day
Because we all love you!

Rob I'me shocked.
I looked back to see what the problem was and I found two posts but I did not see a question.
I could not have helped anyway as my skill set is not strong enough.
You have done a great deal to help me and others, I for one really do appreciate the time and effort you do put in.
The trouble with a global forum is the time differences can be vast.
Please don't get despondent.

I'm out of this one. I have no clue about 7i92s et al!
I do think the kind of stuff you do is pretty techo and way past my pay grade...
With social distancing none of us have any idea if you smell or not!
You certainly have not pissed me off!
and x 2 we all love you!

I think this was addressed at me as i do have several systems working with 5i25 or 7i92 and 7i77 and (more importantly) with 7i74. Shame on me !
One of those systems uses a custom firmware that PCW made for me ( eternally grateful to PCW for that as it saved me a lot of work ) that has 6 SSI encoder channels and 2 normal SSerial channels . Now those 6 SSI channels start from 0 at the bottom far port (this is all looking at the 7i74 from above, RJ45 connectors on the right side), 1 is bottom near port, and so on.
For connecting 7i70 and 7i71 to 7i74 i just plug them in and check the "show hal configuration" from the "machine" menu in Axis GUI, then edit the hal file accordingly.
