Hello people,
Quick question regarding using proximity sensor for home/limit switches... In general whats best practice to used in plasma cnc environment a NPN or PNP and 5V or 6V-36V? using a mesa 7i96 board.

I would use PNP. The 7i96 can use either but the other boards (ie 7i76e et al) can use PNP out of the box and NPN requires a pull up resistor.

Also for noise immunity its better to use a higher voltage like 24V if possible.
