So you have your brand new & shiny ISO what do I do next.

WIndows:
Grab this: Win32DiskImager it works everytime, I have used it for many many years when I used to use Windows.
Some users have had luck with Rufus & Balena Etcher some haven't. The above mentioned utility works.
After having written the ISO to the USB stick windows may inform that the USB stick is unformatted, actually it is unformatted according to windows but only in as far as windows can not read it. Fear not if everything has gone well you will be able to bought from it.

Linux:
dd can be used but it is fraught with danger. but as an example:
sudo dd if=path to your iso of=path to your USB sitck eg: /dec/sdd
Another option on Mint based systems is USB Image Writer which can be run with
mintstick -m iso

Booting:
Make sure you are able to choose which device you can boot from and set it up to boot from your USB stick, you will have to search for how to do that according to the PC or Laptop you are using.
For machines that require a password to change boot device options you are really on your own to find what that password is or if there are any work arounds.

Mint 19.x:
Do to a quirk of the installer it may fail if you don't have an active internet connection, either LAN or Wifi are fine. The only caveat with wifi that it needs to be supported. Many are, so there is a good chance you should have luck.

I use a Mac. And the dd instructions work fine, though care is needed.

Thanks Andy

I thought it would work on the Mac, but tho I have one sitting in the corner that I found on the side of the road I haven't got the room to set it up and get a good feel for it.

And you actually brought it home? What were you thinking?
