Hello everyone, I'm trying to wire the attached switches in for my home switches. I have an input voltage of 5 volts and it appears the output is 2.6 when connected to the 7i96 board.
Brown wire to 5 volts+
Blue wire to -
blk to input.

I think 5 volts might be a bit low for a proximity switch.

As Clive says try using 24V.

Much better for electromagnetic interference as well.

Inputs of the 7i96 operate with 4V to 36V DC

+2.6V open circuit is about right if the 7I96 input common is at +5V
(7I96 input common must be at + voltage to use NPN sensors)

Would PNP sensors be more noise resistant? I used NPNs on my 7i96 since I had them already, but did wonder.

I don't think it makes much difference noise immunity wise.

With 7I96 inputs you can accommodate either type
but since there is a single common all inputs must
be the same so for example if you use NPN proximity
switches, all inputs will be sourcing (ground to activate)

Thanks - put 24 volts to the inputs and it works. Awesome forum. So much help. :)
